SOTRU Short: Dear Salt Lake City


Last year, we traveled to Salt Lake City, a place founded by Mormon pioneers and still deeply influenced by Mormon culture. Modern Salt Lake has a reputation for being a tidy, friendly, somewhat homogenous town – but Katharine Coles, the former Utah poet laureate, still sees the wildness at its heart: a city built in the desert, on top of a fault line, between two enormous mountain ranges.
